Russian Business Magnate Consider Investment In Philippine Infrastructure Projects


MANILA, Philippines — The Deputy chief executive officer of the Russian construction company TOMSKOBLSTROY, Mr. Alexander Efremov, paid a courtesy call on the Philippine Ambassador to the Russian Federation Carlos D. Sorreta to discuss the firm’s interest to take part on the infrastructure projects in the country, including airports in Palawan and in some populous part of Luzon, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.

TOMSKOBLSTROY is a general contractor of industrial and civil construction works. The aforementioned firm is based in the Siberian city of Tomsk and has completed different residential apartment buildings and industrial projects in Russia.

According to TOMSKOBLSTROY Deputy CEO Efremov, there is presently strong interest in the Philippines amongst members of the Russian business community. Efremov stressed out that their construction firm is currently engaged in advanced discussions with Philippine partners and looks forward to finalizing the negotiations soon.

“We have been watching carefully the developments in the Philippines. The governance under President Rodrigo Duterte is very encouraging to businessmen and investors,” Efremov said.

Ambassador Sorreta to the Russia asserted that the Philippine Embassy’s full support to Philippines-Russia economic cooperation including involvement of the Philippines and the Soviet companies in large-scale projects.
