ARAYAT, Pampanga — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local PNP officers has discovered what has been dubbed as the biggest methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) laboratory in the country situated at the foot of Mount Arayat in Barangay San Lacquios on Thursday afternoon.
The shabu laboratory, which is the second to be exposed in the Pampanga province in the span of just a couple of weeks, is disguised as a live stocks and agricultural business registered to a certain Chinese-national, according to PDEA Central Luzon Information Officer Glen Guillermo.
The PDEA Region III Officer disclosed that the Municipal Government of Arayat and Bureau of Fire Protection were about to conduct fire safety and sanitary inspection in the aforementioned establishment, but they were surprised that it was abandoned and shocked on what they have discovered at what should have been a piggery and corn crusher
The raiding team, composed of operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 3 Office (PDEA3) and local police, immediately inspected the suspected clandestine laboratory which is surrounded by an eight to ten feet of concrete fence, with a hog farm and melting plant of plastics beside the establishment. They found a seven large hydrogenators and a chromatograph machine among the equipment in the shabu laboratory.
Barangay Lacquios is about five kilometers away from Barangay Balitucan in Magalang town where the PDEA Pampanga and the cops discovered a piggery farm concealing an underground shabu laboratory on September 7, where seven Chinese nationals were arrested there.
This was the second shabu-making establishment found in province. Three others have been found in Angeles City since March. Senior Supt. Rodolfo Recomono Jr., Director of Pampanga Provincial Police Office, that they have been trying to determine any connection between the Balitucan and Lacquios shabu facilities.
Local policemen and PDEA officers are currently undertaking an inventory of the equipment and seized precursors chemical compounds found inside the warehouse of the shabu laboratory.
Workers at the shabu factory in Mt Arayat fled and are being tracked down by the local policemen.
